I was a Cub Scout starting in 2nd Grade, and continued throughout the program until I turned 18. As an Eagle Scout, I completed 23 merit badges, growing my education on a number of different skills and knowledge. My project was to plan, organize, and execute a 300-foot split rail fence at a local park. This fence protected a growing vegetation in a community park. This is the park that I would regularly go for a run, mostly just to check on my passion project. My responsibility grew as I was elected the first patrol leader for my group of new Scouts. There was 11 of us, one of the largest patrols in the troop, and it was my role to prepare for summer camp, campouts, and weekly meetings. It was a huge responsibility and as a young Boy Scout, was a big challenge, but was largely successful. As I continued down the path towards Eagle Scout, I took on another role, Senior Patrol Leader (the highest leadership position in the troop). I led all meetings, planning conferences, camping events, and a mobilization to Seattle Washington for an epic summer camp. We won honor troop, completing requirements to earn the respect of this prestigious award.
