Sigma Chi Fraternity prides itself on having the best philanthropy on campus. That means we throw the best event and collect the most money for a worthy cause. Derby Days is a week long event involving all of the sororities to take part in our campaign. The girls get really into it to spend time with us and win. I was charged with being the "Derby Daddy" for the Kappa Delta Sorority. One of the major events is the dance competition where each sorority collaborates to put together the best themed dance performance to win points toward the Derby Days Crown. We practiced tirelessly and put together a great performance that earned us 3rd place in the competition. But it was not easy. We worked hard, but the first practice, no one showed up. I addressed the girls and said I will get the guys together to be there for the next practice. Frustrated, I sent out a fiery text to all of the team members that I had hand picked for the team. The next dance practice everyone was present and eager to learn the elaborate dance. Everyone had a good time and we raised a lot of money. This is a picture of the "Derby Darling" Alexis Chan who helped with the choreography.
